About Me, Personal
So… you want to know more personal stuff about me, huh? Hmm… OK.
I’m 29 years old, with a birthday on October 4, 1979. I’m 6ft tall and weigh 135lbs, so yes, I’m a tall, skinny, white boy. My goal is to become a toothpick when I grow up! ![]()
Now let’s see… my interests vary greatly, but mostly I enjoy technology, music, movies, writing, camping, fishing (with my Dad), going to the beach, hanging out with my friends, baseball, golf, and soccer (even if I do suck at all sports), and helping others. Actually, I think helping others is my favorite thing to do, because happy people make me happy. However, when I help people, it is with the sole purpose of resolving a problem, not just covering up the symptoms, so no "hand outs" from me!
Some of my favorite things include — foods: lasagna, gnocchi, and strawberries. Brands of electronic equipment- Samsung, Phillips, and HP. Favorite companies – Microsoft, GE, Cisco. Favorite toothpaste – Crest Multi-Care with Whitening and Baking Soda and Crest Expressions — Citrus Splash. Favorite color – purple. Favorite web site – GateWorld.net. Favorite type of music: Pop and Alternative Rock (MB20, Everclear, Oasis, Goo Goo Dolls, Creed, Alanis Morissette, etc.), but I like all types except country, rap, and heavy metal (with a few rare exceptions in each of those). Recently, I have also taken a liking to Salsa and Meringue music including Shakira, Sergio Vargas, Giselle, Carlos Vives and Celia Cruz. Favorite instruments: Saxophone (I can play it), Trumpet (I can’t play it), and Piano (I can’t play it).
Favorite type of movies: Action-Adventure, Comedy, and Sci-Fi. I love to play video games, but mostly if they’re military strategy (Metal Gear and Call of Duty, etc) and RPG’s (Final Fantasy, Xenosaga, etc). As far as Sci-Fi goes, I really like Stargate and Battlestar Galactica right now (Star Trek and Star Wars, too). As for comedies– the list would be too long to present here, but basically, if it makes me laugh, it’s funny, and I like it. Wanna know more favorites? E-mail me and ask.
As I said above, I’m really involved with technology. It’s how I make a living, and it’s one of the things I’m very passionate about. I don’t claim to know everything, but I know exactly where to look for the things I don’t know. I also acknowledge that I will always have room for more education and training on technology, so I will always be “playing” with the cutting edge stuff. In any case, don’t think I’m one of these wackos that thinks technology can solve every problem in life– it can’t, and it won’t. Technology is just a tool that humanity uses, so it’s no different than a hammer or screwdriver.
I graduated from Muskingum College with a degree in English with Business Writing Concentration and minors in Middle Childhood Education, Mathematics, and Computer Science. Wait, English? What happened to Education and Math majors? Well, the Muskingum College Math program violently MURDERED all interest in math I’ve ever had, and without math, I wasn’t ready to step into a classroom to inflict my mathematical annoyance on students.
For now, I’m focused on my other passion (and what took me into computers in the first place)– communications. I moved to Youngstown, Ohio and spent a year working for Turning Technologies with my friend (and boss), Corey Davoll. Now I’m looking for something on my own again so I can expand my horizons a bit.
Politically speaking, I am pretty conservative in my own personal ideals while trying to accept a dose of reality. I am a Republican, although there was a time I was foolish enough to call myself a Democrat. I had a change of heart when I realized that most liberals these days are more interested in oppressing the majority of society in favor of minorities rather than improving the quality of life for everyone. Moreover, I realized that often times they shun personal responsibility in favor of blaming others for their problems, and I realized that I’m all for capitalism, free trade, and true Constitutional values.
I also don’t buy into this “Politically Correct” mentality that most liberals shove down our throats. I’m the type who will speak my mind, especially if I know (through education or experience) that I’m right. I will gladly admit when I’m wrong, and I admit when I don’t know something, but a lack of knowledge has and will never stop me from seeking out an answer. I believe that life gives back what we put into it, and I wish that more people would stop putting garbage into it, because I get sick of getting garbage out of life.
As far as religion goes, I certainly believe in God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit… I have seen too much in my lifetime to deny existence of a superior creator, and on top of that, the more I learn, the more I realize that it can’t possibly be a matter of luck and probability. I believe that God created us with free will, and I don’t believe he sits around running our lives like a puppet show. But– the idea of free will is that we can either accept or reject God, and in the end there will be consequences of those choices. Furthermore, we have free will based on the conditions that the events and circumstances of daily present us. The limitations of those choices are that we are bound by the laws of existence— we can’t just will ourselves to sprout wings and fly, for example. “Just because God doesn’t sit around pulling our strings, it doesn’t mean he hasn’t created a system of sciences to automate the process.” As for why I believe in Christianity over other faiths in God– the moral values. Although Christianity has had its fair share of wackos, Christianity is a true religion of peace and tolerance, completely unlike Islam that teaches peace and tolerance… of people who agree with Islam.
I don’t know what else to tell about myself… If you want to know anything about my personality, click here to get a good idea, and don’t hesitate to e-mail and ask. That is, if this wasn’t too much information and enough to make you want to scream in the most Monty Python-esque manner– “Run away! Run Away!” (although this will spoil the joke, for those that are unfamiliar with Monty Python, this is a reference to Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail. If you want to know more, go to
www.google.com and search for Monty Python).
